The difference is Parcells was a proven winner. Between Jerry Jones and T.O. I don't think Lombardi could do anything in Dallas if he were still alive. Parcells didn't do a bad job. His hand was forced more than anyone lets on. He just knew how to spin it to look like he was callin all the shots. IMO Jones and TO are the reasons Dallas has a mediocre head coach and not Bill Parcells.

I agree to a point, but Jones actually let Parcells run most things in Big D the last 4 years than most think. Jones biggest meddling was signing Owens, but for the most part Jerry was on good behavior when Parcells was there, and did want Bill back.

what ever the Cowboys become over the next 2 or 3 years will be a direct influence on what Bill was building there in Dallas. He has almost all the pieces in place to make a run at the big dance

I agree. I think he done a pretty good job. The offensive line was improved this year, but the biggest hole is safety and d-line. Ferguson does an okay job in the middle, but I wish Spears would step it up. He has underachieved IMO. Plus, when Ellis went down it killed their ability to rush the passer from either edge.

Norv Turner would be a bad choice for the Pound Wildcats.

They'd want rid of him after they lost their first game, just like any other coach they've ever had.

They'd run Mike Krzyzewski off.

Re: Marty Shottenheimer fired...

phillips definitely isn't going to be there for more than three years since his replacement has already been hired.
things are in place for dallas though, so maybe phillips can come in and be a a breath of fresh air from parcells' dictatorship(which isn't a bad thing, just how he coaches) and have the team feed off of it and be successful.

i wonder what is to become of bledsoe. surely he won't stay in dallas. i saw dallas play the colts this past year and bledsoe i.m.o. had the strongest arm in warmups. not nearly as precise as peyton, but it looked like bledsoe was throwing nerf balls. i think dallas gave him a raw deal...

As soft as Duke looks this year that might be the case in a lot of places.

Re: Marty Shottenheimer fired...

Hiring TO is enough meddling enough for 30 years. In addition, hom many times has Jones hit the sidelines since Bill started?...Many...Jerry Jones is exactly what is wrong with Dallas. Cuz he is responsible for TO. And he has shown that he is incapable of hiring decent coaches to replace the Legends he runs off.

Re: Marty Shottenheimer fired...

jones normally comes down to the sidelines if it looks like dallas is going to win. i don't think he interferes so much with playcalling as he does personnel. but yes hiring t.o. was the undoing of parcells, and may turn out to be the undoing of the cowboys franchise. i guess it depends on how many touchdowns and receptions t.o. has. as long as he is getting those things, dallas will be fine.
